Hayato is widely-known as one of the best salons catering to the large international community that lives in and around Roppongi Hills and Midtown. The internationally-trained staff is more than capable of giving their customers the best hair services possible, as international residents and tourists make up 40% of their clientele. The staff is also very familiar with imported products like Goldwell and Redken. With this information in mind, our hair models were very excited to try Hayato’s ‘anything you like’ package, where they could relax and fully trust their stylist to take care of their hair. One of the hair models wanted a digital perm – a unique Japanese hair perm, while our second model opted for a double-process hair color, a conditioning treatment, and a haircut. Great Deal for Japanese Digital Perm So what exactly is a digital perm? Created and perfected in Japan, the digital perm uses heat to give the hair its shape memory and it also strengthens the condition of the hair. It gives hair a 3-D effect with flexible waves and curls, without making the hair stiff or dull – and its effects are extremely long-lasting. Let’s see the process for ourselves on our first hair model. Digital perm chemicals being applied to the hair Our first model wanted to shake up her very long and somewhat lifeless tresses with some bouncy curls as well as a boost of shine. After a detailed hair analysis by the stylist, it was decided that the digital perm would be the perfect treatment for what she wanted, and he proceeded to prep her hair for the treatment. First, the chemicals were carefully applied to her hair and given time to set. The stylist then did a ‘test curl’ to check how the hair was reacting to the perm process, and to ensure that there would be no hair damage. The stylist does a test curl to check the condition of the hair After a gentle shampoo and thorough rinse, the hair was cut to accommodate the best shape of the curls, then rolled in plastic curlers.Using a special heat-emitting machine, the hair was then heated to activate the curling effects of the digital perm. Our hair model amused at her ‘Marie-Antoinette’ look Once the rollers were taken out, her hair was rinsed and treated with a deep conditioner; then it was time for the style and finish. With expert blow drying and finger-curling techniques by the stylist, the digital perm was completed and left our hair model looking gorgeous with her new look. New York Style Hair Color with Highlights Our next beautiful model is a young Asian-American woman with previously-bleached hair. She came hoping that she could have a fun look without damaging her hair further, and her stylist did everything possible to deliver. The stylist took special care to only apply bleach to her virgin hair, including avoiding folding the foil to keep the application precise. After washing out the bleach, the stylist created the perfect shade of purple to match the photograph our model brought in. After applying the dye to the bleached ends, the end color is an amazing dip-dye/gradation of bright purple! Both our hair models felt completely relaxed knowing that they were being given 5-star service by Hayato’s hair experts – and wouldn’t hesitate going back for another change in their look.

Mitchie: Long hair colored with a Sombré color – a soft, subtle ombre that blends higher up the hair shaft to achieve a more natural look. Natura has been featured many times in magazines and on TV. Several celebrities have vouched for them, and have nothing but positive gasps of delight at the results. The locals have also been coming back for more as soon as Natura’s honey pack’s gooey enchantment spread across the neighborhood. Choosing the Right Essential Oils for Your Hair Sinking into a plush chair, I was offered a cool drink (a non-alcoholic one. Frowny face) and asked to choose an essential oil from out of four – lavender, peppermint, rosemary and bergamot. Once selected, my “Curist”, Ms. M, led me to a comfortable Yume (to dream) reclining chair and gently washed and pat-dried my hair, getting all the city dirt and grime out. Ms. M proudly holding her “curist” diploma. Guided back to the plush chair, Ms. M blended bergamot oil with some argan oil to make a fragrant concoction for a much-needed twenty-minute head massage. The oils in the massage help to rehydrate and cleanse the scalp of any undesirables. A “curist” is a new Japanese word coined for a specialist in handling the head cure treatment. The knowledge and skill one must acquire in order to be qualified is extensive. The honey packs in all their glory. You have two options – honey with brown sugar (which is most effective for white hair), and the other, honey with a minty twist. Aging Care and Revitalization of Scalp & Hair The main effect of the head cure is “aging care and revitalization of scalp and hair”. It heals dry and oily scalps just the same and increases the quality of your hair drastically. By stimulating the pressure points on your scalp, temples, and neck, you’ll start to feel relaxed and at the end, rejuvenated. One of the key techniques is something called “push and roll” – push on the pressure points for three to five seconds then roll out the stress, getting the knots out of your system. It also improves headaches such as white hair, hair loss, dandruff, and dryness. In addition, it’ll prompt better blood circulation causing fatigue lines to disappear and boost skin complexion. The Honey Hair Pack and Sparking Water Shower The beach theme extended into the “shampoo room” as well, leaving me wanting a cocktail all the more. Beach scenes projected onto the big blank wall, giving it a cozy, and yet spacious, feel at the same time. The honey pack (plus a ten-minute head massage and later, a hot steam towel wrapped around your head) was pure delight! I’ll let the photograph below do all the convincing. It really was a treat – a lush and luxurious treat. I chose the “honey with a minty twist” hair pack. The sparkling water shower was a cascade of warm bubbles caressing and repairing. All the minerals in the water being absorbed by the pores and split-ends like a thirsty beast. A sparkling water shower is a luxury you cannot afford to refuse. It was the best of goodbyes. I was spoiled to bits – a trim, blow-drying, brushing, a hot iron and a head full of curls, sprayed with a glossy finish. It was my shot at feeling like a celebrity thanks to Natura and all their lovely stylists! And special thanks to my “curist”, Ms. M. “Thank you!” Look at that glossy finish!

Solid Technique and Speedy Application Anmi starts off with a swift cut, file and smoothing of your nails to get them prepped for painting. A separate set of tools is prepared for each customer a day ahead. These tools are sterilized and kept in anti-bacterial packs to ensure extremely high health and hygiene standards. Gel Nail Art that Tells a Story With each coat more and more of a painting starts to appear on your nails. For this session, Lavanya brought some photos of Baja CA, Mexico where she will be travelling on her bicycle. anmi was delighted and inspired by the mix of desert landscape and bicycle camping. In fact, she ended up adding a few of her own ideas of Mexican design. Very entertaining to watch, she keeps her customers enthralled. In a short amount of time, there are ten complex, high-resolution pictures on your fingertips.
